Mission Institute trained young men and women missionaries to upset slavery and further the abolitionist movement. Notes on the back read: Institute No. 1 was at 60th and State, Dr. David Nelson home, later the home of Bill and Ruth Deters. No. 2 was at 25th and High, which is one black east of 24th and about 1 1/2 blocks north of Maine. It consisted of a large 4-story building used for college purposes, a chapel, and several one-story structures...
