Tableau 10 in atlas: Illustrations to Maximilian, Prince of Wied's Travels in the interior of North America. View of Fort Pierre, a Sioux village and the Missouri River. A solitary Sioux man observes the scene from a cliff. In 1836 Maximilian commissioned Bodmer to create illustrations to accompany the text of his atlas documenting their travels. These illustrations include 81 plates of aquatints.
