This home was built in 1871 by Christian Geils. At the time of the Chicago Fire, Mr. Geils offered his home as a temporary shelter for refugees. Mr. Geils was a dealer of grain, flour and lumber. He purchased the Johnson and Peter Grain Elevator after the Civil War. This photo was taken in 1963. At that time the building was the dental office of Dr. Harrie Hall.
