Mr. Fizdale, as a man in his late 20s in 1968, recounted how he became acquainted with Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Rubin, Phil Ochs, and Paul Krassner in early 1968. During the Democratic National Convention, Mr. Fizdale then used these connections to house Jerry Rubin in his North Side apartment. Mr. Fizdale also participated in some of the marches in Grant and Lincoln parks and was shocked by the police reaction to the demonstrators. He did not, howev...
