John V. Schaffenegger (1914-1986) married Huntley native Florence Conley in 1945. John was a gunnery officer aboard the battleship Nevada for four years of duty in the Pacific, Atlantic and the Normandy Invasion during WWII. After the war he returned home and resumed his law practice. He and his wife had no children. He is buried in St. Mary Cemetery, Huntley.
