The real names of the two girls were Rachel Hall (afterwards Mrs. Munson) and Sylvia Hall (afterwards Mrs. Horn). Cf. Baldwin, History of LaSalle County, Ill., 1877, p.95-104. Also included is a narrative of the captivity and sufferings of Philip Brigdon, a Kentuckian, who fell into the hands of the "merciless savages."
