Photographic portrait of Adam Harrer, from 1888. Harrer was the first mayor of Niles Center, Illinois from 1888-1890. He was the first Fire Chief of the Niles Center Volunteer Fire Company, which was founded in 1881. Harrer also served as a Village Trustee from 1893-1894 and 1898-1899. His brother, George Harrer founded the fire company for Morton Grove, Illinois. This photograph is part of the collection of the Skokie Historical Society.
