Alva Ritz (1874-1950) was the last Huntley area resident to give up the horse-drawn carriage in favor of an engine-driven vehicle. Alva, or Alvie, as he was also known, was married to Matie Davis (1873-1951). They farmed just west of Huntley. Alva Ritz in buried in Harmony Cemetery, Harmony, Illinois.
