A view of some of the Hundred Jizō, just outside of Nikko. Jizō, a bodhisattva, is seen in the Japanese Buddhist tradition as the guardian of children, and in particular, children who died before their parents. These Hundred Jizō lie alongside the Daiya-gawa (river).
