- Description
Skokie Firefighters Patch. Large, circular patch initiated in the 1980s to identify paramedics, as well as firefighters. The text on the patch is: Skokie Fire-Medics. Symbols on the patch include a pick and axe, the Staff of Asclepius, the medical symbol of a snake intertwined with a wooden rod, and the symbol for a pulse. Patches are worn on firefighters' clothing and help identify their rank, function and company.
