Alex Lips, youngest of the children of John Valentine Lips and Elizabeth Langlitz, was born in 1884 in Wheeling Township. His family moved to Arlington Heights in 1889 and Alex was a resident there for 70 years until his death May 17, 1958. He was a member of the Arlington Heights fire department for 50 years and the Arlington Heights Masonic lodge.
