Caption on back of card: As the result of the passing of a bill that was introduced by Abraham Lincoln, the capitol of Illinois was moved from Vandalia to Springfield on July 4, 1839 to become the sixth capitol of Illinois. The building was completed in 1853 at a cost of $260,000.00 and it was here that Lincoln gave his famous 'House divided against itself' address.
