Picture postcards
Caption on back of card: Samuel Hill came to New Salem in 1822. In the spring of 1835 he built a four-room house; and on July 28, 1935, he married Parthena Nance of Farmer's point. This was the only full two-story house in the village. In 1839, Hill with his wife and baby moved to Petersburg.
