March 5, 1844 Samuel McDowell of St. Louis sells William Hayes 120 acres of land in Randolph County for $350. The land lies in "the east half of the northeast quarter of section sixteen and the southwest quarter of the northwest quarter of section no. fifteen of township four south, Range five west." The deed is signed by Samuel McDowall and witnessed by Samuel Proudfoot and John Fisher. Manuscript, 7 7/8 inches x 12 inches.
