A picture of John Naper's log cabin built in 1831. Joseph and John Naper started to built a saw mill in the fall of 1831 and had it in operation in 1832. It was the second saw mill and dam on the DuPage River. The first dam across the DuPage was built by James Walker in 1830 at Walker's Grove, now Plainfield. In 1832, Joseph Naper was elected Captain of the militia in Cook Co. and stationed at the fort in Naperville. He was one of the first villa...
