A picture of Hobson's Mill at Naperville [it] was built in 1834-35. It was operated by Bailey Hobson and Harry Boardman. The stones were shipped from Buffalo, NY and cost $190 per set. John Kinzie got $45 for transporting them. The bolting cloth cost $50.88. Miss Standish got $2.00 for putting it in place. This was the first grist mill in northern IL. Mathews' Mill at Plainfield was second. Mr. Hobson also built a tavern to accomodate his patrons...
