Order, dated April 29, 1808, written by Meriwether Lewis while serving as governor of the Louisiana Territory headquartered at St. Louis. In this document Lewis authorizes the Bank of the United States to pay Joseph Charless one hundred dollars. Charless, a printer and publisher, founded the newspaper the Missouri Gazette in St. Louis in 1808.
