This written history of the Carmody family farm covers the years 1879 to 2005. Terrence Carmody emigrated from Ireland in 1855 to New Orleans and various points in Illinois before eventually settling in the Towanda area in 1879, where he and his wife purchased a farm. Robert, the 4th generation, still lived on the farm as of 2005.
The Carmody Family Farm 1879-2005 Terrence Carmody arrived in New Orleans, Louisiana, from Ireland, in 1855 at the age of 28. He worked for the railroad and eventually lived in Atlanta, Illinois. He was married in Bloomington, Illinois in 1863. In 1879 he and his wife traveled by handcar from Atlanta to Towanda and purchased the farm 4-1/4 miles east of Towanda.
