Picture postcards
Color postcard. Depicts First Congregational Church at 1520 Charleston Ave. and Avey Building (Masonic Temple) at 112 S. 16th St. in Mattoon, Illinois. The Congregational church erected this brick structure in 1897 on the site of an earlier building purchased in 1871. The Masonic Lodges of Mattoon leased the upper floors of the Avey building from 1904 until 1929, when a new temple was built. Both buildings were razed circa 1965.
