- Description
Personal recollections of William L. Wilson, who served in the Black Hawk War. He recalls returning with his unit to Dixon, Illinois and having "much fun with the afterwards President of the US, Abraham Lincoln." Wilson tells of beating Lincoln in a wrestling match (best two out of three), but Lincoln wasn't satisfied and challenged Wilson to a footrace for $5. Wilson reports that he "won the money and it is spent long ago."
