This is a trip hammer that L. Edgar Simpson built in 1904. His creation was used for 40 years in the Stronghurst, Illinois area. It was used in a blacksmith shop to pound plough shear blades. It is located in the Henderson County Historical Society Museum, Raritan, Illinois.
