Tableau 3 in atlas: Illustrations to Maximilian, Prince of Wied's Travels in the interior of North America. Portrait of Massika, a Saki (Sac or Sauc) Indian and Wakusassa, a Musquake (Fox) Indian. Massika wears beaded earrings, a roach headdress and facial markings depicting bear claw marks, a denotation of his tribal identity. Wakusasse wears a roach headdress, beads and face paint.
