The helmet worn by Paul E. Kolb when he served in the United States Army during World War I. He enlisted on October 3, 1917 and was released from the service on January 19, 1919. Kolb, a native of Niles, Illinois, married Elsie Seegers after the war. They settled in Des Plaines. His daughter, Florence Smith, a Mount Prospect resident, donated the helmet to the Mount Prospect Historical Society. The helmet is a M-1917 model which was based o...
