The daughter of Pakistani parents living in Venezuela, Seemi Choudry (b. 1988) grew up speaking Urdu at home, Spanish with friends, and English in school. When the family moved to the Chicago area, Choudry attended a Muslim grade school. After 9/11, she transferred to an all-girls Catholic high school where she was the only visible Muslim. Upon graduation from college, she worked for the Mayor’s office.
