Helen Kettering (left) with unidentified student. Helen Kettering was a biology instructor for Elgin Community College from 1949 until her retirement in January 1966. She was one of the 18 original Elgin High School faculty who split their teaching assignments between the newly founded community college and the high school. She became the first U-46 teacher to work full-time for ECC in 1959.
