??Born September 16, 1805. Apprenticed to a blacksmith in Chillicothe at the age of 18 and took lessons on the side. Moved to Bloomington in 1833, began to make agricultural equipment, including hand-created plows, under the trade-mark of Bunn & Ellsworth. (History of McLean County Illinois, p. 770). Additionally, was a member of the board of trustees at Illinois Wesleyan University from 1850-1855. (Historical Sketch and Alumni Record p153)
