Order, July 13, 1755, from South Carolina commissary general William Pinckney to inhabitants of the province, notifying them that five Cherokee Indians returning home are to be provisioned as far as Congaree at public expense. Pinckney notes that the daily allotment per Indian is seven shillings and six pence, and that the Indians are not to be detained at a stopping place for longer than is necessary.
