Letter written by the Rev. Jeremiah Shepard to Major Stephen Sewell on Sept. 15, 1708. In this letter Shepard, pastor of the church of Lynn, requests that Sewell consider becoming John Wainwright's guardian. Wainwright became an orphan following the French and Indian massacre at Haverhill, Mass. in the summer of 1708.
