- Description
Lower entrance to park, off of Abington Street. Statue is by artist Fritz Triebel and was unveiled in 1911. Robert Green Ingersoll 1833-1899 came to Peoria to practice law in 1857, but is best remembered as an orator. The statue still stands (2012) in Glen Oak Park, which is near the location of Camp Lyon where Ingersoll raised his regiment (the 11th Illinois Cavalry) during the Civil War.
