Caption on back of card: Housing the Mathematics Department, is named for John Peter Altgeld, Governor of Illinois from 1893-1896--an important period in the growth of the University and its college of law, which was formerly housed in this building. Altgeld Hall is considered one of the best examples of Romanesque architecture in America.
