Bernard Biernacki was born in Chicago and lived in the Bridgeport community area until his marriage in the mid-1970s. At that point, he and his wife moved to west suburban Aurora. While studying journalism at Southern Illinois University, Mr. Biernacki traveled to Chicago to experience the Democratic National Convention.
