This is a black and white photograph taken in June 1926 for the Eucharistic Congress. A bishop celebrates the sacrifice of the mass and holds up the chalice at the High Altar at Soldiers’ Field. Another bishop, a priest, and an acolyte stand near the altar to assist him. The altar is massive with its impressively large candles and crucifix.
