The caption reads: "Post Office Block erected by Judge S. D. Puterbaugh in 1871-2; Corner of Main and Monroe Sts. Peoria, Ill." The sign on the horse drawn rail car reads: "Central City R.Y.; Main St." The signs above the stores read: "Post Office and C.A. Holmes." There are pedestrians and horse drawn carriages on the street.
