New Year's Day on Argyle Street. Many of the Cambodian, Vietnamese and Thai residents of the Little Saigon neighborhood (Broadway and Argyle) follow the Buddhist rather than Christian calendar. According to the Buddhist calendar, the year 2000 A.D. is the year 2543, and the new year is celebrated later in January or February.
