Tableau 30 in atlas: Illustrations to Maximilian, Prince of Wied's Travels in the interior of North America. Depiction of the Assiniboine burial practice of raising the dead on platforms or scaffolds. Wolves are depicted below, circling the tombs. In 1836 Maximilian commissioned Bodmer to create illustrations to accompany the text of his atlas documenting their travels. These illustrations include 81 plates of aquatints.
