The house was built around 1890 by William F. Meyer, Sr. and his wife Mary (nee Sievert). They were (born about 1859 and 1863 respectively. The cost to build the house was $5,000 and at that time the house had gas lights, kerosene lamps, wood burning stoves and outdoor plumbing.
