A Bloomington, Illinois Pantagraph newspaper article reports that a fire completely destroyed the Towanda Grain Company Co-op at dawn on October 14, 1951. Firemen from Lexington, Bloomington and Normal assisted in battling the blaze. Frank Brewster, the company manager, declined to estimate the extent of damage.
